Pilates was developed by German Joseph Pilates in the 1900s with the goal of achieving a balance of strength & flexibility. We offer a number of Pilates courses in our exclusive Makom Pilates Studio with new Stott Pilates equipment. It's a calm, peaceful place where our talented & certified instructors will help you improve strength, flexibility, core power &, most of all, achieve tangible results.

Like many parts of a fitness facility, a Pilates studio can seem complex & overwhelming. There's no need to worry at the JCC, we cater to everyone from the complete novice to technically sound. Below you will find an array of options, beginning with our Pilates 101 courses – a free* 90-minute introductory session. All other courses in our Makom Pilates are fee-based with a discount provided to JCC members.

No show/cancellation policy: $10 fee assessed for no show or late cancellation (less than 12 hours). Punch pass holders will forfeit one punch.

*Pilates 101 is a 90-minute introductory session. This class is required before attending other classes in the Makom Studio.
**All Makom Pilates are fee-based with the exception of Pilates 101 for JCC members.

Reformer I/II

This is a Reformer-based class covering the basic principles of Pilates to build a good foundation of understanding of the exercises. The class moves at an easy pace focusing on the stability of your core within full-body movements.

Reformer II/III

This Reformer-based class moves at a quicker pace & incorporates more complex movements. This class requires greater strength, stability & flexibility & knowledge gained from Reformer I/II classes.

Reformer III

This Reformer-based class moves through more choreographed & multi-joint movements. It requires more strength & endurance. This class works at a quicker pace. Many exercises are done in an inverted or hand / feet-balancing positions.

Jumpboard

This class uses the Reformer with the Jumpboard attachment to focus on the legs & core in a cardiovascular endurance setting. Great for the avid cyclist & pre-ski season training.

TRX

Born in the U.S. Navy SEALS & developed by Fitness Anywhere®, Suspension Training®, TRX is a revolutionary method of leveraged body weight exercise. It builds power, strength & flexibility using your own body weight.

Private Pilates

In addition to our group Pilates classes, we have option for private one-on-one sessions where you can receive direct, focused workouts & instruction geared to your needs. They are especially beneficial for those with a specific imbalance or rehabilitation need. They are also great for pre/post natal workouts, sport-specific needs or assistance with physical limitations.

Private or semi-private sessions are available in our Makom Studio or our Makom Private Studio on the 1st floor.

Buddah Pilates

A total mind-body workout featuring the strengthening & lengthening exercises of Pilates coupled with the deep stretches of yoga. The perfect zen experience. These classes are free for members. Buddah Pilates is a non-fee-based program and is included with our Group Fitness courses.
