FAQ
I'd Like to Have My Wedding Reception at the JCC, but It's Not a Jewish Wedding.
No problem. We gladly host events, weddings and receptions from a wide range of faiths, traditions and cultures. There is no requirement that you be Jewish.
Do You Require Kosher Meals?
Sort of. We call it ™kosher style.∫ We do not serve pork or shellfish and ask that meat and cheese be placed on separate plates. All of our approved caterers can easily provide delicious and, often more affordable, meals to fit with our requirements.
What Is Your Capacity?
Depends. We have several rooms available and dozens of configurations for everything from a sit-down, formal meal to a lecture and just about everything in between. Please contact Toba Essig about your event and we can likely find a configuration that works for your event. Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. What Are Your Rates?
Again, there's not an easy answer. We have several rooms, catering options and configurations that it makes it confusing to post rates with so many variables. Also, we offer discounts to JCC members, nonprofit organizations and University of Utah functions. To get pricing details, please contact Toba Essig. Isn't the JCC a Country Club?
No. We are a community center and we do have membership fees. We are far from being a country club, however, we have many of the amenities by virtue of the building itself. The JCC was originally built as the Officers' Club for Fort Douglas. Later, it became the Fort Douglas Country Club and 10 years ago, the JCC – thanks to a generous gift from Izzi and Jeanné Wagner.
