Early Childhood Center Staff Positions Available

Preschool Teacher/Assistant Teacher

Preferred qualifications for this position are:

  • Minimum education requirement as teacher: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or related field with ECE coursework
  • Minimum education requirement as assistant teacher: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent 
  • Experience working in an early childhood education setting
  • Knowledgeable about developmentally appropriate practice

PM Extended Staff

Preferred qualifications for this position are:

  • Available for 15-35 hours per week, during the afternoons until 6:15 pm Monday-Friday.

Early Childhood Center Inclusion Specialist

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, 12-15 hours per week

SALARY: D.O.E.

SUPERVISED BY: Early Childhood Center Director

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for integrating students with special needs into as full participation as possible in an inclusive preschool/childcare classroom setting.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Bachelor’s degree in Special Ed., or related field preferred. Experience with early childhood development preferable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NECESSARY:
Knowledge of categories of exceptionalities for special education and appropriate educational practice. Coaching and mentoring Early Childhood Center staff.

INTERPERSONAL, CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS UTILIZED:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with children and their families, and education professionals. Interact in a positive manner with other staff members. Must relate well to children. Ability to implement IEP’s, IESP’s, and preschool services plans, and work in a team with families and staff. Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the Center’s philosophy and goals.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT UTILIZED:
Computer, Copiers, digital cameras, printers, video cameras.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift preschool age children up to 50 lbs.

Caregiver in Hourly Child Care

In this position a caregiver is expected to spend time caring for children and interacting while they play with friends, sleep, eat snacks, and learn positive and appropriate interactions in a group of friends. It is a drop in facility where parents are required to stay onsite and children are allowed to stay for a two hour time frame. Children range in age from 6 weeks to 6 years of age. This position requires someone who has had experience working with young children and is loving, nurturing and a good communicator. All caregivers must have a current CPR and First Aid certification as well as a Food Handler’s permit. This position requires 10 hours of training yearly and attendance at a monthly staff meeting. 

Hours and Shifts available:

T-W-TH 9-4pm

Afterschool (Club J) Counselor

The I.J. & Jeanné Wagner Jewish Community Center (JCC) is looking for experienced individuals (21 years of age and older) to work as counselors in our Afterschool program. You will receive an individual JCC membership to our beautiful center and fitness facility and work in a fun and friendly environment.

Candidates must be available to work from Monday-Thursday from 2:00-6:00 PM and Friday from 12:00-6:00 PM, and be able to pass a background check. Due to driving each day you must also be 21 years old and have a clean driving record.

Center Specialist

Applications are now being accepted for "Center Specialist" positions. Qualified candidates must be friendly, outgoing and energetic individuals who can provide the highest level of service to our members and guests. If you are a "people-person" and would enjoy working with the public on a day-to-day basis, we would like to meet you.

As a Customer Service Representative of the Jewish Community Center you have the opportunity to make a great first impression on first-time visitors and potential members. Simultaneously you will expand our relationship with current JCC members.

Hours & Compensation:
This is a part-time, early morning position. Hours: 4:45AM-10:00AM, Mon-Friday. Starting wage: $9.00/Hr.

Some evening and weekend work is required. In addition, this position receives an individual membership to the JCC and discounts on many programs and events.

The ideal candidate for this position has:
• A background in customer service
• Cash-handling experience
• Hospitality experience
• Basic computer skills
• Basic understanding of Jewish culture (preferred)

Duties include:
• Greeting and assisting JCC members and guests
• Collecting admission fees
• Answering phones
• Selling products and services the JCC offers
• Maintaining cleanliness of the facilities

Aquatics Available Positions

Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Provide instructional swimming lessons to children and adults in group and private settings. Assist in day/week camps in coordination with other youth programs at the center.
Minimum Qualifications:  Current American Red Cross WSI certification is preferred, but other certifications will be considered.

Lifeguard
Job Description:
Provide a safe and clean environment for all patrons in the pool area. Perform all necessary functions as related to the aquatics department.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be 16 years of age or older at the time of hire.
• Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certifications.
Essential Functions:
• Perform all essential lifeguard duties.
• Respond quickly and efficiently to all emergency situations.
• Assist in cleaning pool, pool deck and other assigned areas.
• Fill out appropriate accident/incident reports.
• Attend all regularly scheduled in-service trainings and staff meetings.
