Sea Monsters Swim Team (Recreational-Competitive Program)

The JCC Sea Monsters is a recreational-competitive swim team for swimmers ages 5-18. The Sea Monsters is dedicated to fostering excellent swim technique, team spirit, and individual personal improvement. The program is ideal for swimmers who desire to continue training, developing their technique, and exploring other competitive opportunities. The Sea Monsters program includes meets which allow swimmers to focus on races and distances not offered in the conventional Salt Lake Swim League setting. All swim meets are optional, focusing less on racing and more on stroke efficiency, implementing proper turns, and long-term development. The Sea Monsters usually attend up to eight or nine meets from September to April; once we have determined the meet schedule, the information will be posted here. Coaches will email information regarding the process of meet sign ups once swimmers are registered and the program begins.

Sea Monsters Practice Groups (September - April)

Coaches recommend that summer Giant Squids swimmers remain in Giant Squids. Summer Serpents and Kraken swimmers will most likely fit well into Serpents, and Hydra swimmers from the summer will now be in the Kraken. Since practice groups condense from four to three, email the coaches if you're wondering where your swimmer fits best. The groups are divided by age/grade, training ability, time standards, attendance, maturity, and performance. The coaches will make the decision on the most appropriate group for each swimmer.

The Sea Monsters are always accepting new swimmers. Please do not hesitate to email the coaches at for more information that applies to your swimmer.

Sea Squids Swim Team (Learn to Swim – Pre-Competitive)

The Sea Squids program is designed for pre-competitive swimmers ages 4-6. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun learning environment for our young swimmers. The Sea Squids program is not a learn-to-swim program. This is a transition program between the learn-to-swim program (where kids develop the foundations of swimming and water safety) and a recreational swim team (where kids develop the competitive strokes and compete in meets). Sea Squids do not need to be proficient at any stroke to participate. Sea Squids should be unafraid of the water and potty trained. There will be several coaches in the water at all times with the Sea Squids.

The price for Sea Squids is $100 per month. Swimmers are encouraged to participate as often as possible!

Program Dates: September 2018 - April 2019
Practice schedule: Tuesday & Thursday 5:15 - 5:45 PM
Price (JCC members only) $100 per month

Sea Creatures Swim School (Learn-to-Swim Program)

The Sea Creature Swim School is a monthly lesson program designed for swimmers of all ages. The swim school provides individualized swim instruction geared towards non-swimmers and beginning swimmers (for non-swim team members). The JCC Learn-to-Swim program provides hands-on, small group instruction for children ages 3-12 years old at all levels of competency. Our instructors interact with the swimmers from in the water and are experienced with teaching younger swimmers.

Sea Creatures instruction will focus on basic stroke and kicking technique for freestyle and backstroke. Depending on the ability of the group, they may also be introduced to butterfly and breaststroke. Instructors will be in communication with the swimmer’s parents regarding advancement to the next appropriate level. The price for Sea Creatures(Monkeys, Stars, Snakes) is $90 per month. Swimmers are encouraged to participate as often as possible!
