While the JCC is a welcoming place, open to all, the policies and rules set out below help us to ensure the safety and security of all of our members.

Supervision of Children 8 and Under (Summer 2018)

As always, we want the families at the JCC to be safe and have fun and the summer to be one of happy experiences at the JCC.
We are glad that children feel so comfortable here but summer is a busy time here and it’s important that parents remember the following:

  • Children under the age of 8 may not be at the JCC without supervision by a person over 18 years of age. A child under the age of 8 may not be sent to the pool with a sibling who is not 18 years old or older.
  • Children who are 8 and older may go to the pool and may be in the gymnasium (when camp is not in session) if dry and wearing proper clothing and shoes. They may not go on the running track or any other places in the building without adult supervision.
  • Swim team members who do not attend summer camp must be picked up immediately after swim team practice in the morning.
  • Children under the age of 8 who participate in swim team and/or swim lessons must be picked up at the pool by an adult 18 years old or older.

Please make sure that your children are properly supervised by an adult who knows where they are and that children older than 8 who are at the JCC alone know how to reach a responsible adult who will pick them up at the appropriate time and/or in the event of bad weather or in the event of an emergency.

Swim Diapers

Any child under four years old, any child not toilet trained, and anyone who lacks control of defecation shall wear a water resistant swim diaper and waterproof swimwear. Swim diapers and waterproof swimwear shall have waist and leg openings fitted such that they are in contact with the waist or leg around the entire circumference. No disposable diapers will be allowed. Please note that Reusable Swim Diapers are available for purchase at the Fitness Desk and Front Desk.

Private Tutoring (Summer 2018)

Each summer we have many families who would like to have their children tutored for one reason or another at the JCC. We want to do what we can to make this possible, however, due to our space restrictions and usage, safety procedures, liability and licensing requirements, and the large number of families seeking to have their children tutored at the JCC, we have put together the following tutoring policy for the summer of 2018.

Tutors may conduct private tutoring sessions with children who are JCC members provided that the following procedures are adhered to:

  • If the Tutor is a member they must scan in and check in with the front desk. If the Tutor is a non-member they need to show ID each time they check in at the desk. Nanny Passes may be purchased for $32.00 monthly to allow the Tutor to scan in.
  • All Tutors must sign a waiver releasing the JCC of any liability before they may conduct private tutoring.
  • Parents of children enrolled in any JCC programs who are going to be tutored must discuss this situation with the Director of the program the child is involved in to confirm that it is feasible that the child leave the program at the time planned for tutoring and that the tutor will pick the child up and return the child back to the JCC program. If the proposed tutoring schedule is workable, parents of children to be tutored must sign a release indicating when the children will be tutored and acknowledging that the tutoring is not a JCC program and is not endorsed by the JCC.
  • Tutors must pick children up from the JCC programs they are enrolled in and deliver them back to the program, signing the children out and back in with the JCC staff.
  • Tutors may not use rooms at the JCC, equipment, forms, staff or other resources during private tutoring sessions. Tutors may not leave equipment or tables and chairs at the JCC.
  • Tutors who are JCC members/Nanny Pass may use the 3rd floor common spaces for tutoring such as the rotunda, upstairs patio, and grassy area outside of the black fence. They may also use common areas on the 2nd floor such as the 2nd floor lobby or round table.
  • Tutors that are Non-Members may only use the grassy areas outside the black fence and up towards the camp office.
  • Other areas of the JCC may not be used for tutoring.
  • No animals are permitted inside of the building.
  • All Tutors and families of children being tutored should draft their own copy of the expectations from both parties and the JCC will not be responsible in any way for whether or not expectations are met.
